Upward Spiral is a space for healing and transformation, both the space within ourselves and also a physical space where people can go to discover, be, and become who they are.
We are a community center in our home of Tampa, FL, a space where individuals can come together to support each other’s healing while working on their own transformation. The truth is we are all in this together, but we must do our own part. We’ve come this far, as Herman Hesse says, but there still remains much to learn.
With the beautiful marjoram blooming in the front garden, we thought Marjoram should be our featured Oil of the Month for May. It also works out that Marjoram has a mothering quality to it so it's the perfect pick for Mother's Day too!

The mothers in our lives are important to us. We want them to know that they are loved and admired. We want to show our appreciation of them and all that they do. But finding just the right way to show our love can be tricky.

When we first moved in a little over two years ago, we planted a little garden out front of one of the windows. By "we," we actually mean our Center-Mom, Sylla. She brought over cuttings from her garden and even in fairly shallow soil with rocks underneath, several of the plants have flourished.
We've been pretty devastated this week with the news that came out of our neighboring city, Orlando. It has been difficult to go through our days without wondering what we can do for those suffering.
We decided to make a blend we are calling "I'm Pulse." The name comes from the place of the incident but is also an affirmation for our collective unity in this healing process. We hope that we can help others to continue to allow our natural impulse to love to live on.
When you search inside of yourself, what do you see? This Valentine’s Day, discover the best parts of your character and spirit. Appreciate them, celebrate them. Even the not-so-good parts, too.
We all have things in our lives that we need to "make peace with." It might be an old personal grudge, or a certain state within the world at large, but we all have an experience that haunts us in some way. Holding onto our past negative experiences can feed feelings of separateness, isolation, and loneliness. But by going inward, we can find the peace that is ever present.
Sometimes when we've lost something we once had we try to retrace our steps to find out where we've left it.
Have you ever walked a Labryth? The Labryth is a design that depicts a path towards a center but with a long journey to get there. Many churches and parks will have a labryth as a place to contemplate our life journey.
New Year's always feels like a good time to cleanse the places in our lives that have become dusty and stagnant. This might be our physical spaces of homes and bodies, or maybe something more intangible like our mind and thoughts. Sometimes the clearing of our physical spaces helps to clear the clutter of our mind. There is just one thing about cleaning...
This part of December marks the approach of a return of light to our days. It is a wonderful time to contemplate how we can find the light within dark places.
The scent of cinnamon calls us out from our caves of inner isolation and opens the door to new worlds. Just as this warming herb can increase blood flow in our veins, it also helps us to open our hearts to our moment-to-moment experience.
