As we move into the season of Valentine's Day, we encourage you to take time to reflect on why and how you love. Whether or not you are in a relationship, there is always love around you. We find that we love others in the way we love ourselves.
We love helping to create an upward spiral in the world, and we know it begins with self-love. Here are a few ways that we love to show love to ourselves.
- Me Time: It is the simplest, yet so often forgotten, form of self-love. Good ol' fashioned Me Time! When you have a whole day to yourself for whatever you want, what is it that you like to do? This is your golden ticket to making sure that you take care of you. Even if it is as mundane as snacking on cheese doodles during a Sunday afternoon, or as grandiose as skydiving, we must find the time to indulge in all aspects of being. This is how we learn more about who we really are.
- Good Food: Food is the key to living a nourished life. There is no better feeling than being full of a delicious meal prepared and consumed in a home by loving hands. Whether you are your own chef or are lucky enough to have someone else make you dinner, there are multiple times a day when you can take advantage of this opportunity for self-love. At least once a day, try to practice mindful eating. You will be surprised at how much more fulfilling it is to really be with your food. It may even become easier to make better food choices.
- Enough Sleep: Remember how it felt the last time you got enough sleep? It is heaven! Sleeping enough is essential for our body to perform its physical and mental processes optimally. For those of us with big ambitions, more sleep can also mean greater success.
- Kind Thoughts: Most of us deal daily with the constant chatter of our minds. That internal critic is sometimes one of the loudest voices. Learning to turn down the volume of that harsh voice within is one of the best things we can do for our overall state of being. The practice of meditation is a great way to learn to maneuver this space. We'd be happy to guide you in meditation at one of our classes.
